Verse 8. Whereas the merely natural love of approbation, which is uncertain and contentious, having a perception of truths, and valiant; and which is opposed to good, when evil seems to prosper and conflict is at hand, while yet it appears to favour good in externals, and is therefore, on account of its use, preserved from the punishment of falsity; — -
