9 Now therefore hold him not guiltless: for thou art a wise man, and knowest what thou oughtest to do to him; but his hoary head do thou bring down to the grave with blood.

Verse 9. This natural love cannot be conjoined with celestial life, for the latter acts from genuine wisdom and is disposed to separate such love, and to reject it when it has served its purpose, because it is contaminated with falsity.
