40 Then Shimei got up, and making ready his ass, he went to Gath, to Achish, in search of his servants; and he sent and got them from Gath.

Verse 40. So that the love of approbation, misled by the reasoning of the natural man, comes into a state of faith without charity, and makes the good and truth of the church subordinate to self-love.
