Amos 2

Funda

Thus says Jehovah: For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, I will not turn back his punishment, for he burned up the bones of the king of Edom into lime.

but I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kerioth; and Moab shall die with an uproar, with shouting, and with the voice of the shophar;

and I will cut off the judge from the midst, and will kill all the princes with him, says Jehovah.

Thus says Jehovah: For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn back their punishment, on account of their rejecting the law of Jehovah; and they have not kept His statutes, and their lies caused them to go astray, after which their fathers have walked.

But I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.

Thus says Jehovah: For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn back their punishment, for they sold the just for silver, and the needy for the sake of a pair of shoes,

panting over the dust of the earth on the head of the poor; and they distort the way of the meek; and a man and his father will go in to the same damsel, in order to profane the name of My holiness;

and they stretch out on pledged garments beside every altar, and they drink the wine of those confined in the house of their god.

And I blotted out the Amorite from before them, whose loftiness was as the loftiness of the cedars, and he was secure as the oaks; but I blotted out his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.

And I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and caused you to go forty years in the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.

And I raised up some of your sons for prophets, and some of your young men for Nazarites. And yes, is this not so, O ye sons of Israel, says Jehovah?

But you gave the Nazarites wine to drink, and commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not.

Behold, I am pressed down under you, as a cart is pressed down that is full of sheaves.

And fleeing shall perish from the swift, and the firm shall not encourage his power, and the hero shall not cause his soul to escape;

neither shall he stand who lays hold of the bow; and he that is swift of foot shall not escape; neither shall he who rides the horse cause his soul to escape.

And he who is courageous of heart among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day, says Jehovah.
