The Holy Supper, both in a general and particular sense, contains everything relating to the church and heaven. The Lord is present and opens heaven to people who approach the holy supper in a worthy state. These are people under the influence of faith to the Lord and charity towards the neighbor. The Lord is also present with people who approach unworthily, but He does not open heaven to them. Because baptism is an introduction into the church, the holy supper is an introduction into heaven. To worthy receivers, the Holy Supper is a sign and seal that they are the sons of God, and a key to their house in heaven where they shall dwell to all eternity. When they receive the supper, holiness flows into them. The holy supper is the primary part of external worship because it is the Lord's divine human which is there given and communicated. The bread and wine, in an external sense, signify the Lord's love towards the whole human race.
