Jonah 3

And the word of Jehovah was to Jonah the second time, saying,

Arise, go to Nineveh, the great city, and proclaim to her the proclamation that I speak to thee.

And Jonah arose, and went to Nineveh, according to the word of Jehovah. And Nineveh was a great city to God, a walk of three days.

And Jonah began to come into the city, a walk of one day, and he proclaimed, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overturned.

And the men of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and clothed themselves in sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the smallest of them.

And the word reached to the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he passed his mantle from on him, and covered himself with sackcloth, and sat on the ashes.

And he caused it to be cried and said in Nineveh by the command of the king and his great ones, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything; let them not pasture, nor drink water:

but let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and call to God with firmness; and let them turn back each man from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their palms.

Who knows if God will turn back and repent, and turn back from His fierce anger, that we perish not?

And God saw their works, that they turned back from their evil way; and God repented concerning the evil that He had spoken, that He would do to them; and He did it not.
