1
Woe is me! For I am as the gathering of the summer fruits, as the gleanings of the vintage; there is no cluster to eat; my soul longed for the first fruit.
2
The merciful one has perished from the earth; and there is none upright among man; all of them set an ambush for bloods; they hunt each man his brother with a net.
3
While they do evil with both hands instead of doing good, the prince is asking and judging for repayment, and the great one, he is speaking to the calamity of his soul; and they distort it.
4
The better of them are as a hedek; their upright are from a thorn hedge; the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation comes; now shall be their perplexity.
5
Believe ye not in a companion; trust ye not in a leader; keep the entrances of thy mouth from her who lies in thy bosom.
6
For the son disparages the father, the daughter rises up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; a mans enemies are the men of his own house.
7
And I will watch for Jehovah; I will hope in the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.
8
Be not glad against me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in the darkness, Jehovah shall be a light for me.
9
I will bear the perturbation of Jehovah, for I have sinned against Him, until that He plead my plea, and make judgment for me; He will bring me out to the light, and I shall see His justice.
10
And she who is my enemy shall see it, and shame shall cover her, who said to me, Where is Jehovah thy God? My eyes shall see her; now she shall be trampled as the mud of the streets.
11
In the day for building thy fences, in that day shall the statute be far away.
12
In that day he shall come even to thee hence from Assyria and the cities of Egypt, and from Egypt hence even to the River, and from sea to sea, and from mountain to mountain.
13
Notwithstanding the land shall be desolate on account of those who dwell in it, for the fruit of their actions.
14
Pasture Thy people with Thy rod, the flock of Thy heritage, who inhabit the forest alone, in the midst of Carmel; let them pasture in Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of eternity.
15
According to the days of Thy going out from the land of Egypt, I will cause him to see wonderful things.
16
Nations shall see and be ashamed from all their might; they shall set their hand upon their mouth; their ears shall be silent.
17
They shall lick the dust as a serpent; as snakes of the earth they shall tremble from their enclosures; toward Jehovah our God they shall be in dread, and they shall fear because of Thee.
18
Who is a God like Thee, bearing iniquity, and passing by the transgression of those who are left of His heritage? He makes not firm His anger for ever, for He delights in mercy.
19
He will return, He will have compassion upon us; He will subdue our iniquities; and Thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.
20
Thou wilt grant truth to Jacob, and mercy to Abraham, which Thou hast promised to our fathers from the ancient days. 34
